In a display of their strong personal friendship and political union, President Barack Obama and former State Secretary Hillary Rodham Clinton sat for lunch at a White House patio (July 29) and discussed “myriads” of issues. The two were protagonists for the 2008 Democratic Party presidential nomination who have since become close friends and allies. [Official White House photo released July 29]
Although they declined to reveal the subjects of their talk, both the president and Clinton are believed to have touched on her campaign for the party’s presidential nomination in 2016. Speculation is that Clinton will get the president’s full support. She is also scheduled to meet for lunch with Vice President Joe Biden at the Naval Observatory (official residence for the vice president). Biden is said also to be in the race for the presidential nomination.
